Java House in Toronto

The patio was nice and the food was decent. The service was extremely slow and if you come here with a group they don't give separate bills which just causes a huge hassle. Also, you can only pay cash. I wouldn't go back unless I'm looking for a cheap spot to eat/drink but there's way better options along Queen West that I would rather try. Overall it was nothing special and kind of an inconvenience when it came to the service and payment.

Good eats, cheap prices, my favorite is the Curry Pad Thai with tofu.

My favourite patio in the summer time. They have a wide variety of daily taps and the drinks are always cheap. The food is a hit or miss for sure, but all in all it’s a good summer experience.

Good food, inexpensive, casual atmosphere. Nothing fancy, but it's not trying to be. Good range of food (except dessert) and they offer daily specials. Don't expect top shelf liquor or wine, but they have an assortment of spirits and beers on tap. Friendly, fast service. They take cash only, but there is an ATM there.

Inexpensive yet really good!

I've taken 6 friends here and everyone's loved it! A gem in an overpriced city - super reasonable prices, great food (especially the all-day breakfast & deep-fried tofu squares). Great sangria, too! Can be really crowded on the patio but waitstaff never forgets about you, even when it's busy! Enjoy the wild trek if you need to use the washroom :)

Have walked by this place a number of times over the years, never stopping in. Ended up going there with a few people before the Bovine... Pretty cool place, food is good and prices are good... Really like it!

Best summer patio and very affordable domestic beer prices. Cash only. Don't know why they don't update their kitchen alley to bathroom area. If you are fearful of dirty basement bathrooms, don't go there, it adds to the charm I suppose.

Awesome place for what you pay. Its really cheap, and cash only. The food quality is great and there's a surprising amount of variation in breakfast / lunch / dinner. The liquor is cheap too.. almost too cheap? Regardless I don't even care because the vibe is so chill and its always a great place for drinks and food. Their daily deals are a real good reason to give them a try.

Was a decent place to visit. Will return to try some other food. Service was quick but hard to know who's actually staff compared to generic people like us. Food was good, I had the burger which was a bit bland for seasoning but was good enough.Cheap drinks too, goood for casual groups or drink nights with your friend or other relations.

Java is one of the last of the "Old Guard" of what used to be bohemian Queen West - before the condos, big box stores, and yuppies. With a great patio in the summer, you can still chill in comfort and watch the steady flow of people and traffic along Queen.Harkening back to the artsy days of Queen West, the price is still right. Bad food & dirty environment.There was a cockroach on the wall. Chicken was super dry and tough and tasteless in the pad thai. Singaporean noodles were soggy and overcooked. Potatoes in the curry chicken were too hard to bite. A terrible experience all round.

Decently priced food and drinks. They do not take cards so take cash. They do have a Atm though.

The food and drink prices are great here! Friendly staff , fast service. Had a fairly weird experience here with an angry customer being aggressive and loud, but the owner and staff were very professional and helpful. Would come back again for the great prices and service.

Lovely bar and restaurant. Everything on their menu is under $10 or less. Really good food for the price and has a nice patio to add with it.

In its hayday this would be a 5 star establishment. While the food is still really great for the value, the facilities have become really fun down. Wallpaper is peeling, the place smells damp and the old upholstery of the furniture just adds to ambiance that the place is just falling apart. I hate to see it go down like this, becuase the staff and food have no issues! Still, I give it a 4 star rating.

The go-to cheap pub in downtown Toronto! Always a great atmosphere, food is always delicious, and staff are very attentive. Recommend to all.

We love this place. Killer patio, stiff drinks and the food is excellent. The prices are incredible for what you get, a definite neighborly “go to” for us.

Java house gives you exactly what you need If you have good friends to help you bridge the wait. Good for eats after brunch, too early and you might be too sober to enjoy the ambience over the okay food. The impressive genre range absolutely justifies a "just satisfactory" curry every now and then, and the half price app's monday to Thursday with a pitcher of beer exceeded expectations.

I've come here so many times and have never left with a poor experience. It's cash only but there's an ATM on site, the food and drinks are great for the price, and I have a ton of happy memories here. I get all nostalgic when I'm tipsy and reading the bathroom stall walls LOL. It's my go-to restaurant for grabbing drinks and meeting friends. Love it!

Great variety of food, prices are really good and the food was fast, hot and flavourful. Service was also prompt and friendly. The place has a pub vibe overall. The washrooms are located past the kitchen, down the stairs and seem sketchy but was clean.Would definitely go back for the food!

Great food,, and the prices are amazing. 7 if ate during 1/2 price apps (3-6 pm) and the bill, including 1 pitcher of sangria and a beer, came to $100 including tip! We will absolutely be coming back. Super friendly service too.

Cheap drinks...fun patio!

This is one of a group of restaurants run by the same people. The food is really good, the service is good and the prices super low. Great for a meal before a show at the Shoe. Try the Java Wrap, and a starter of the fried tofu... awesome! The wrap has tonnes of broccoli which I love, my friend Eli doesn't like it though, he prefers the less tasty cauliflower... poor thing!

How can you NOT love the Java House? This place should be hailed as a Toronto landmark. They serve up a moderate selection of cheap food, and the drinks are possibly cheaper? Who knows how they do it. The Java House doesn't try to be fancy, though it fills a certain void that only a place like this can.

I'll start by saying the food is not of the highest quality, but the prices are GREAT and the staff is friendly. For food, entrees are around 10$ and most other items in the 3-6$ range. That is what keeps me coming back. They also do all day breakfast!I haven't tried everything so I can't speak on it all. The nachos start plain so you can customize them with quite a few toppings. The pad thai sauce was sweeter than I expected but portion size was perfect and hit the spot. Spring rolls and dumplings are good.Drink prices are lower than most Toronto bars / restaurants. Some people may find them to be average price. I highly recommend their daily food and drink combos though; I think 1 quesadilla and 1 pitcher of beer for 17$ was today. Plus the patio is by graffiti alley, which is a huge bonus :) .PSIt's CASH ONLY unless you order online.

My favorite restaurant in Toronto. Great food, cheep beers, cash only. If you are looking for abience be forewarned: this is more urban/hippy style of place. That being said, I have taken my parents here on a night when they were hoping for something fancy and they just couldn't decide on anything. They enjoyed the food, drinks, and the service was really good.

Poor service, so unlike the typical excellent customer service standards that you will experience in Canada. And the server didn’t bother to bring any utensils for my sandwich or refill our water. I also had a piece of uncooked rice in my tuna sandwich. I’d rather pay more to go to another place and be treated decently.

Cheap $13 pitchers and cheap food all the time, spacious patio, lots of tables. Bunch of Vietnamese ladies cooking up your consistently mediocre pad thai / burger / linguine. Recommended for cheap booze and bigger groups.

Super friendly staff and good eats for cheap in comparison to the rest of Queen St.Got some chicken pad thai and vietnamese ice coffee, enjoyed the last bit of summer on the outside patio and had a lovely time
